System 21 to SAP Migration
Many companies have been successfully using System 21 to support their business operations in manufacturing, wholesale and distribution. Most of these systems have been in place since the heyday of JBA, and have survived the changes through GEAC and now to Infor.
Although the ERP transactions continue to support the business, many Executives have been assessing the risk these changes imply. SAP recognise the dilemma this must cause, and have introduced a special programme, supported by Chelford SAP Solutions, to reduce the software investment and provide a smooth, proven migration from System 21 to SAP.

Why Migrate?
The advantages are very clear.
- Low Risk: SAP has been one company, growing steadily for many years, and there is no reason to think this will change
- No confusion: SAP All-in-One is based on one product set, not a variety of systems from many acquired vendors
- True integration: designed in, not added as new systems are acquired
- Future-proof: each SAP release is supported for a minimum of eight years, and SAP has always developed and maintained a common product
- Focus: SAP is one company, with one integrated product set in the mid-market. All development and support effort is focussed one product rather than many.

Who has already migrated?
Many companies in Wholesale and Distribution have already moved from System 21 to SAP. Chelford’s SAP SmartStart for Wholesale and Distribution includes rapid implementation and migration from existing systems. Supercook selected SAP from Chelford to replace System 21.

“Both solutions were technically good in the short term”, says Alan Brown, IT Manager. “But we were taking a longer term view. Having SAP offered us flexibility and functionality in abundance in the future. With its dominant market position we felt that SAP was a safer long term bet.” |
Supercook has a turnover of £45m and 250 employees, and is the UK’s leading supplier of baking aids. Eighty per cent of its sales are through the major UK supermarkets. Why did Supercook choose SmartStart for Wholesale & Distribution over its incumbent systems?
